At the heart of this delightful dessert are Oreo cookies, which bring a unique flavor profile that is both chocolatey and creamy. Introduced in 1912, Oreos have become a beloved treat, known for their distinctive dark chocolate wafer cookies and sweet cream filling. The contrast of textures and flavors in Oreos makes them an ideal base for a variety of desserts, including our Oreo Balls.

Ingredients

1 package (15.35 oz) Oreo cookies

8 oz cream cheese, softened

2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or white chocolate, your choice)

1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for thinning)

Sprinkles, crushed nuts, or additional Oreo crumbs for decoration (optional)

Instructions

Crush the Oreos: Place the Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until they reach a fine crumb texture. If you don't have a food processor, you can place the cookies in a zip-lock bag and crush them using a rolling pin.

Mix with Cream Cheese: In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed Oreos and softened cream cheese. Use a spatula or your hands to mix until fully combined and it forms a dough-like consistency.

Shape the Balls: Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. You should get about 20-24 balls.

Chill: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes or until the balls are firm.

Melt the Chocolate: While the Oreo balls are chilling, melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in increments of 30 seconds, stirring in between until smooth. You can add coconut oil to the chocolate to thin it out, making it easier to coat the balls.

Dip the Balls: Once the Oreo balls are firm, remove them from the refrigerator. Using a fork, dip each ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Tap the fork gently against the edge of the bowl to remove excess chocolate.

Decorate (optional): While the chocolate coating is still wet, sprinkle with crushed nuts, additional Oreo crumbs, or colorful sprinkles for a festive touch.

Set the Coating: Place the coated Oreo balls back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet and let them sit until the chocolate hardens. You can speed this up by placing them in the refrigerator for an additional 15-20 minutes.

Enjoy: Once set, serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Enjoy your delicious, decadent Oreo balls!
